TEACH HAND WASHING TO CHILDREN AND PARENTS SAYS HOSPITAL

GREAT ORMOND STREET HOSPITAL INCLUDES PARENTS AS WELL AS KIDS IN ADVICE.

Social hand washing techniques should be taught to children AND parents according to Great Ormond Street Hospital advice entitled  “Hand hygiene”.

Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children advocates that “Parents and children should be taught the importance of good hand hygiene in the home environment as well as in hospital”.

The Hospital refers to the importance of the social hand wash – defined as follows:-

(a) Social hand wash is performed to render the hands physically clean and to remove transient micro-organisms. It is an infection control practice with a clearly demonstrated efficacy and remains the cornerstone of efforts to reduce the spread of infection.”
