Recently the Western Cape Emergency Medical Services have been conducting field tests on the latest addition to their ambulance fleet, the AVE 4 x4 Modular Ambulance. The ambulance was manufactured by Advanced Vehicle Engineering cc of Montague Gardens, Cape Town, and contains a Tealwash onboard Hot Water Hand Wash System.
Dr Shaheem de Vries, Head of Emergency Medical Services for the Western Cape Government, writes:
“The Tealwash unit permits emergency medical personnel to ensure that universal hand washing precautions are practiced throughout the province, thus ensuring a clean and professional working environment within each Western Cape ambulance. In so doing, the unit protects not only the personnel but the patients as well. The unit represents one of the key evolutions in the service’s commitment to creating quality, safe and patient centred environments in each of its ambulances.”
